Mains Relay Switching with Contact Protection

The implementation of effective contact protection extends both the mains relay reliability, and the operational reliability of the circuit in which it operates. This therefore makes the designer’s task more simple, and enables a significant overall reliability improvement and equipment lifetime.
The IES5541A introduces the capability of longer relay life, higher switching rates and significantly lower EMI interference. This integrated circuit offers controlled mains relay drive when implemented with the typical circuit configuration and thereby offers a higher reliability solution in a wide range of controlled mains switching situations, where either sensing or logic driven inputs are used.
